Breaking News!!!

Olivier Theyskens named new Artistic Director of Theory

News just broke today that Olivier Theyskens formerly the head designer of Nina Ricci has been named the new Artistic Director of Theory. This was just announced today not long after his capsule collection for Spring 2011 for Theory was previewed during New York Fashion Week to incredible reviews.

Here are some of the looks from the spring capsule collection:

Needless to say you can see the Theyskens influence in this collection, but it is fairly different from what he did with Nina Ricci. I can’t wait to see what he does for a whole collection for Fall 2011.

Got Some Style?

GotStyle Red Light Affair

GotStyle, one of Toronto’s best menswear stores, always knows how to throw a fashion event during Fashion Week that is tailored to the actual consumer. This year’s show was no exception. Melissa Austria, owner of GotStyle hosted Red Light Affair down at the Amsterdam Brewery. It was truly a great event to end LG Fashion Week, with Blake McGrath; dancer/coregrapher/musician and now of So You Think You Can Dance Canada fame; opened the runway show with some incredible back flips that truly got the party started. Not to be out down by the opening, Melissa also had Rex Harrington; National Ballet Royalty, and now guest judge of SYTYCDC; dance down the runway, as well as a burlesque show as a short break, and Kurt Browning killing it during the finale by skating down the runway on roller-blades. It was definitely a show to remember and one that I am sure the mainly male guests enjoyed while getting a chance to look at great fall fashions that are carried in GotStyle along with some great fall trend tips.

I want to thank the incredibly talented artist Beckie DiLeo for these great shots of the event:

The Guests:

So the theme Red Light Affair had a dress code requirement – Wear Red! I unfortunately don’t wear red nor do I own any red accessories, so I went the red lipstick and nail route and took the theme Red Light Affair to my wardrobe selection. Here are some shots of the guests that attended. Again, shots are all courtesy of Beckie DiLeo.

Thanks again to the wonderful night to the whole crew at GotStyle. It is always nice to go to an event and see non-fashion people enjoying fashion.

I’m Obsessed

Dedicated Post:

Burberry Beauty

I am definitely a make-up junkie…there really is no question. But I have to admit my newest cosmetic obsession really does deserve it. Burberry Beauty is really what I feel so many woman were looking in the beauty market. It is makeup for women, not makeup artists. It was the brain child of Christopher Bailey as he felt there wasn’t any makeup out there that reflected his Burberry girl. With colours named like Trench, Khaki, Almond, Cameo, you can truly see the Burberry influence. The colours are incredibly wearable and soo easy to use, and it it gives a great fresh faced look.

I also love the packaging with the iconic plaid all over it.

Shadows:

Burberry Sheer Eyeshadow No. 6 Almond

These sheer shadows can be applied with your finger or a brush. The colours are amazing. Some of my favourites are Khaki, Gold Trench, Almond and Trench.

Lip Gloss:

Burberry Natural Lip Glow Lip Gloss

This gloss is absolutely amazing. There is great colour coverage, but absolutely noooo stickiness, so hello windy days, as there were will be no hair caught in the gloss or leaving those dreaded gloss lines on your face!

Lipstick:

Burberry ‘Lip Cover’ Soft Satin Lipstick

This lipstick actually feels hydrating on your lips. I love how if you apply it and slighlty blot it with your finger you get a great stained appearance. And can I just say how much I love the packaging. It is so sleek and sophisticated AND there is a magnet in the cap which prevents it from falling off in your purse….Genius!

Foundation:

Burberry Sheer Luminous Fluid Foundation

This foundation is absolutely incredible. I have been one to preach them amazing qualities of Gorgio Armani, but I must admit as much as I still love the Armani foundation, this one has surpassed it in my loves. There are uv filters in it, so you need to shake it up before you use it, but the colours and texture on the skin are incredible. One pump is truly all you need for coverage. I find I don’t even need to use concealer anymore with it. This is a definite recommend to anyone, and they have a great range of colours to choose from.

Currently in Canada Burberry Beauty is exclusive to Holt Renfrew Bloor Street in Toronto and Vancouver, you can order it from them from where ever your are, or you can also shop online at Nordstrom since they now ship to Canada.
